These two pastel paintings have just sat unframed in my basement. A blog provides a great opportunity to do something with it. I wanted to post something while I struggled with the self portrait that was mentioned a few days ago.
Thanks so much...yes, I did both recently. I've painted with acrylics some but found pastels to work best for me. I enjoyed your recent postings. I may need to try working with oils. It would take an investment in the paints. How many different colors would I need to really get started?
Re the oils: Some use the palette of: three primaries, a brown, a green, (if landscapes) and plenty of white to lighten all those intense colors. That will get you started, then you can expand as you wish...
It's in the works as we speak... Various responsibilities are pulling on me last week & this week, but hopefully snatches of studio time will keep the idea developing. That's one great quality of oil: you can go back to a still-wet painting within a certain time frame.
These are awesome! Your work?
ReplyDeleteFrame them when you get a chance...

Thanks for the advice. Can we expect an oil from you soon?
